One wonders why they employ an expert to advise them if they're going to ignore his advice....Perpetuahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01214396019726161983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3063789335725081371.post-44735425416309070762013-12-30T22:40:34.395+01:002013-12-30T22:40:34.395+01:00Hello Perpetua, hope your Christmas was tranquil. ...Hello Perpetua, hope your Christmas was tranquil. Yes, you do wonder how the planners get away with it. I would have thought that was what they were there for - to stop such mistakes being made. I do feel sorry for those who have lost precious and irreplaceable possessions.

But you're spot-on about the sheer criminal idiocy of planning permission being so freely given for development in known flood plains. Incomers wouldn't necessarily have known. What chance now of their getting building insurance I wonder? suejhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04072740351690646281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3063789335725081371.post-79146405332493115252013-12-28T21:36:48.593+01:002013-12-28T21:36:48.593+01:00I knew the Mole when growing up...but I am still a...I knew the Mole when growing up...but I am still astonished that councils give planning permission for building in areas well known to be subject to flooding.

I'd like to see a district auditor - if such a thing still exists - make those who passed such permission pay for the damage caused to others.the fly in the webhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04563871975125538755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3063789335725081371.post-6721811489049054302013-12-28T15:56:12.321+01:002013-12-28T15:56:12.321+01:00Hello Lesley, Happy New Year to you too. :) Sadly ...Hello Lesley, Happy New Year to you too. :) Sadly I think the impact of flooding can only get worse, especially in the South East because of all the pressure on using all available land for building. :(suejhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04072740351690646281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3063789335725081371.post-71101140931313031492013-12-28T09:46:44.911+01:002013-12-28T09:46:44.911+01:00Living in Woodhatch, south of Reigate, my brother ...Living in Woodhatch, south of Reigate, my brother and I started school at Sidlow Bridge which was on the Mole. They have had floods before but it's always so much worse at a holiday in winter. No doubt their plight will extend well into 2014. Our last river to live near was the Derwent, Yorkshire has had more than it's fair share of flooding! A Happy New Year to you all.Lesleynoreply@blogger.com
